BIOGRAPHY
Anook Cléonne is a Dutch visual artist based in Burgundy, France.
A graduate of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and former participant in the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam, she has developed an artistic practice spanning several decades, with an international trajectory encompassing exhibitions, artist residencies, public commissions and works held in public and private collections.
From 2022 to 2026, Anook Cléonne devoted much of her energy and focus to developing Vouch, the independent platform she founded in 2018. Under her direction,Vouch strengthens the position of mid-career artists through meaningful encounters with new audiences, offering a complementary model alongside galleries.
Its innovative approach was recognised and praised by the Dutch Council for Culture (Raad voor Cultuur), which highlighted Vouch as an innovative model addressing the gap in support for artists at this stage of their careers.
Alongside her work as an artist and cultural entrepreneur, Cléonne has explored the intersections of art, social innovation and cultural patronage. For many years, Cléonne has taught drawing at ArtEZ University of the Arts in the Netherlands, remaining connected to the academy and its artistic community while continuing her own practice from Burgundy, France.
Having brought Vouch to a new level of maturity, Anook Cléonne has entered a new chapter in Burgundy, France. The move marks a deliberate shift in focus, allowing her to devote renewed attention to her own artistic practice.
The distance from the Dutch art world offers a valuable new perspective on her work, creating space for reflection, experimentation and a deeper engagement with her artistic direction.
